Salmon Fish Curry, an Indian style finger licking delicious fish curry!!! The tamarind and coconut masala used in this recipe gives a delicious tangy & coconut flavor, it tastes so good with a bowl of steamed rice !!! 

For a while now, we have been buying salmon fish alone here, so i'm trying all sort of Indian fish recipes with salmon fish. If you haven't tried my Indian style salmon fish fry yet, you must give it a try, it's one of the my famous recipe and got rave reviews from the followers. Coming to today's curry recipe, it's such a simple dish and come together in 20 mins with basic Indian pantry staples. If you're wondering how salmon fish would taste in Indian curry, trust me, it's simply awesome !! Even i had my doubts before trying salmon in indian based curry, but for a year now, it's my go to recipe with salmon next to salmon fry. So without further delay, let's check out how to make this scrumptious salmon fish curry !!!


Indian Style Salmon Fish Curry

Ingredients
Red Snapper - 1/2 lb
Pearl onion - 15(peeled and finely chopped)
Tomato - 1(small chopped)
Tamarind -  a small lemon size
Turmeric powder - 1/4 tsp
Red chili powder - 1 &1/2 tsp
Salt - to taste
Oil - 2 tbsp
Curry leaves - few
Coriander leaves - few
To grind
Coconut - 1/2 cup
Pearl onion - 5
Garlic - 3 
Cumin Seed - 1/2 tsp

Procedure
Soak the tamarind in 1/2 cup of water for 30 mins. Put all the ingredients listed under "To grind" in a mixie/blender jar along with couple of table of water and grind into smooth paste & set aside until use Next heat the pan with oil. 
Once the oil is heated, add the pearl onions & curry leaves with pinch of salt and saute till they are translucent then add the tomatoes and saute for couple of mins.
Extract the tamarind juice from the soaked tamarind and add into the pan along with spices(turmeric, red chili powder),coconut paste and salt. Give a good mix and cover it lid and let it simmer for 15-20 mins in low flame.
Once the oil floats on top, add the cleaned fish, give a gently mix and cover cook again until the fish is well cooked.
Finally add the finely chopped coriander leaves and mix well. Switch off the flame.
Finger flicking delicious India Style Salmon fish curry is ready.

Notes:
  • I have used salmon fillet for this recipes and removed the skin while cleaning.
  • Tried it with salmon steak for couple of time, it also tastes good.
  • Pearl onions gives great taste to the curry, so highly recommend to use it.
  • Once the fish is added into the curry, the curry tends to become little watery. So cook the masala until it's really thick before adding the fish to get the consistency that i got here. Otherwise you would end with watery fish curry. If that's fine for you, go for it.
  • Cook in medium flame once the fish is added into the curry. Vigorous boiling makes the fish to disintegrate into curry.
  • You can use kish fish/vanjiram meen and red snapper fish also for this curry.
