Cauliflower poriyal, a simply cauliflower stir fry flavored with indian spices. This poriyal is easy to make and it will ready in 15 mins, as today i'm not in mood to cook anything elaborately, i thought of making this as a side dish for capsicum pulao.
Usually i prepared this poriyal along with sambar & rice. But to my surprise, it's so delicious when paired with pulao too. So if you're looking for anything easy to cook yet delicious, give it a try.

Recipe Category: Poriyal | Recipe Cuisine: Indian

Cauliflower florets - 1 cup
Onion - 1/4 cup (chopped)
Garlic - 1 tsp(minced)
Grated Coconut - 1 tbsp
Coconut Oil - 1 tsp
Cinnamon - 1 small piece
Cloves - 2
Cardamom - 1
Red chili powder - 1/2 tsp
Turmeric powder - a pinch
Sambar powder - 1/2 tsp
Salt - to taste
Curry leaves - few
Coriander leaves - few

Procedure
Cut the cauliflower into small florets. Heat the water in sauce pan, add the cauliflower florets in the boiling water.Add salt and cook the cauliflower till it becomes tender.Drain the water and keep it aside until use.Heat a pan with oil, add cinnamon, cloves & cardamom ,saute it for 30 secs. Then add the minced garlic, onion & curry leaves one by one.Saute it well.Once the onions become translucent, add the cauliflower and the turmeric powder.Add all the spices(red chili powder & sambar powder) and salt.As cauliflower have already salt, be careful in adding salt now.Saute till the raw smell of the masala leaves, finally add grated coconut & coriander leaves. Switch off the flame and it's ready to serve. It tastes great with sambar & rice or even with any pulao.
Notes:
  • You can add ginger garlic paste instead of minced garlic.
  • Use coconut oil for better flavor.
  • My sambar powder have very mild hotness, so added red chili powder for extra hotness.
  • For extra flavor, add 1/2 tsp of garam masala.
