I tried the Gulab Jamuns from the ready made mix only. Here's the recipe. If you want to make with khoya , here is the recipe
Ingredients
Gits Gulab jamun mix - 100gms
Sugar - 300 gms
Cardamom powder - 1 tsp
Orange color - pinch
Oil
Water
Procedure
For syrup
Dissolve the sugar with 300 ml of water and allow to boil , once it comes to boiling stage add cardamom powder and food color.
Keep it in medium flame for 10-15 mins. Then switch off the flame and keep aside
For Jamuns
Take the mix in a bowl and break the lumps with hands before adding water/milk
Now make the dough by adding water/milk. Do not knead the dough for long time and keep it aside for 10 mins
After that divide the dough into 20-25 equal parts(depends on the size you want) and roll into small balls without cracks(you can apply ghee/oil to make smooth balls).
Dont give more pressure while making balls otherwise jamuns not cook well inside.Roll it gently.
To fry
Heat the oil in medium flame.Place small amount of dough in the oil,if the dough slowly rise from the bottom to the top, then the oil temperature is prefect.
Now fry the jamuns in the same flame. While frying the jamuns rotate the oil frequently,it will help to make them color uniformly.
Once the Jamuns are fried ,put it in the syrup.
Allow it to soak for 1 hour. Now Gulab jamuns are ready
Serve warm or cold.Either way its yummy..
